This liberals always think they're right but they're wrong, whereas we conservatives (viz. me, Jonah) are the ones who are right but we would never stoop to think so is its own tyrannical cliche. Take the case in point. If claiming that you're on the right side of history and your opponents are on the wrong side is a lying liberal trait then someone better tell Victor Davis Hanson, among a zillion other conservatives. When it came to the Iraq war, Vic et al couldn't stop accusing anyone who didn't eagerly jump on the clusterfuck wagon as being on the wrong side of history. To wit.R. It is an attempt to demoralize your opponents not engage them."

Goldberg thinks that since conservatives are always right, the left is just being dishonest when they say they are right. He says that the left tries to browbeat the right, confuse their sense of morality. The right knows that followers follow, and if their mores are rejected they will lose authority when everyone follows the liberal mores. They see themselves from a postion of weakness, and that is frightening.

Since followers are able to block out anything they don't want to see, such as hypocritical behavior, factual error and massive projection, they become irate that the left doesn't agree with their ironclad arguments. But they don't actually have any arguments, they just have fear of the other and sexual squeamishness. So they need some schlub like Goldberg to give them a "winning" argument--and pay him a million to do so, which reinforces his belief that he is right and the left is wrong. The left doesn't get million dollar book contracts.

Which feeds into his anger when liberals insist they are right, prove they are right, and laugh at him for being wrong. His next book will probably be how the left thinks they're so funny when really the right is funny and the left is just mean. Because their minds are built that way.

It's really interesting. Goldberg hates to be mocked so he goes and says something stupid and is mocked. He's gready for praise and revels in it. So he has been denied praise; he has felt stupid. And it makes him feel weak, like a child. Goldberg's past is always part of his present.

Goldberg resents these feelings but it's not like he can blame his mother. We know Lucianne uses and manipulates people, and has no empathy or conscience. (She must have been a nightmare to a kid.) So he blames liberals instead.

Goldberg is now calling liberals liars constantly on tv and radio. It will become common belief that the liberals' facts are wrong and the conservatives' facts are right. We need to point out all his factual errors just as often, to undercut his authority.Susan of Texashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00076915322771385454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2222630007427380394.post-28313398570490515782012-05-13T18:45:58.178-05:002012-05-13T18:45:58.178-05:00Demoralizing your opponents is not engaging them? ...Demoralizing your opponents is not engaging them? It sounds like successful engagement! Ah, this is the old conservative "you're not supposed to win, nor to fight back" argument.

What, exactly, is the reality-based argument against gay marriage, anyway? The only honest arguments are "it makes me uncomfortable," "I feel threatened that my gay child might not feel so ashamed he remains an unhappy closet case forever" and "the scripture I read highly selectively to reinforce my own prejudices condemns it." None are compelling.

Anyway, let's consider the whole unfair argument that gay marriage (which is already a reality in some places without the world ending) will become a wide-spread reality. That's not "demoralizing" to non-conservatives. And it happens to be true. If conservatives choose to be "demoralized" by it, that's their choice, just as it was when they supported slavery, and opposed women's suffrage, the Civil Rights Act and labor laws, or were otherwise on "the wrong side of history." Appealing to a sense of equality and fairness may be demoralizing to Jonah, but back in the 60s it was called appealing to the better angels of our nature. It's not surprising that the authoritarian and Randroid crowds would consider that a dirty trick.Batocchiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02193752396025012825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2222630007427380394.post-40541544812755026102012-05-13T18:40:05.393-05:002012-05-13T18:40:05.393-05:00What, legalized slavery is poised to make a comeba...What, legalized slavery is poised to make a comeback in the United States?
