Dear Susan, I am a paid journalist. My job is to cover topics pertinent to culture, economics, and current events. The problem is, I'm incredibly vain and self-absorbed and like to write about myself a lot. Apparently, this is considered unprofessional by some. I also enjoy writing at length about subjects for which I have no knowledge and pretending that I'm really into cooking when I actually don't have the slightest clue what I'm doing in the kitchen. What should I do?
I have some advice for her--Stop drinking. And more important stop writing about how much you drink all the time. She's all sloppy hungover on PJ Media, you'd expect her to at least tone down the ETOH. But no, like Hitchens, she continues to brag about how much she drinks. Time for an intervention.
CP: You need to find a sugar daddy to support your hobby. Then you can babble to your heart's content.
Anon--Worse of all, she's drinking whiskey without giving it its proper attention and respect. Let her giggle over daiquiris, which have no dignity anyway.

I think the PJTV interview was right after Douthat got the NYT job she wanted, so it's understandable if she was hung over. If I got passed over for Douthat, my first reaction would be to reach for the bottle.

It never occurred to me that she might have been hung over. Heh.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Mcardle can blame sexism. The Times already has a token woman.
If I were Maureen Dowd I might start watching my back.
You think that talking about watching a movie and drinking is "talking about your personal life"? God you really are a stalker.
