Shorter Megan McArdle: I could look up facts but that would destroy my argument, so I won't.
Another Shorter Megan McArdle: Obama's spending will ruin the economy. It wasn't okay for Bush either, even though I said it was at the time.
Note there is no response to the criticism heaped upon her the past few days. McArdle always slips away for a day or two until the fuss blows over after she does something egregious. Then she just ignores the controversy.
At least she actually typed out the words "as far as I know," instead of "AFIK." It's really perturbing to read that crap in professional media.
ReplyDeleteThat still doesn't excuse it. As far as you know, Megan? It's not like you can't easily find out by making a phone call or checking online. Then you'd be, like, you know, a journalist and stuff (a profession of people who generally do not convey their thoughts in writing by interupting them with snarky, condescending words such as "like" and "you know." I'm just saying).
It used to be so time-consuming and difficult to look things up. Now it's easy.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that after so much time, I can still be shocked by McArdle's lack of effort.
OMFG!

Jesus! It was $400 a month when I was getting insurance in 2002; I wanted to err on the optimistic side.
This entire saga, she never.....
No.
ReplyDeleteNever.
Why should she, when she is elite and therefore always right? Even when she admits she is wrong, she can't admit her thinking process is wrong. Other people got lucky, that's all, and the subject was too complicated to understand anyway.
I just have to say it again: This whole time she's been telling us that health care is peachy keen, her notion of what people are paying for insurance has been off by a factor of 5.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I got the Dave Janda spam lies today. First time in a long time anybody has insulted me with that kind of crap - I thought it had dried up.
She would rather err on the optimistic side than look up actual figures. What a cracking pro. It's a wonder nobody's nicknamed her "Scoop" by now.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing that it never occured to her that a barely-turned-30 single woman in fair health just might be paying a wee bit less for insurance than most other people.
She's so stupid that she thinks insurance costs have actually declined 15% since 2002. What planet could she possibly be living on?
ReplyDeleteThis flavor of stupid has made it all the way to Brad Delong.

(But I still don't have the "Lovely & Talented" Susan got at Angry Bear for a Douthat rant)
