The Hero Of Janesville, The Man They Call Ayn

For all my fellow Joss Whedon fans.

Ayn!

The Man they call Ayn!
He robbed for the rich and he stole from the poor,
He stood up for The Man and he'd give him much more
Our love for him now, aint hard to explain,
The hero of Janesville, the man they call Ayn!

Our Ayn saw Wall Streeters' backs breakin'
He saw the lawyers' lament
And he saw the lice and scum takin'
Every dollar and leavin' five cents
So he said, "You can't do that to my people"
"You can't crush them under your heel"
Ayn strapped on his lies
And before the ink dries
Steals everything the Boomers had to steal

He robbed for the rich and he stole from the poor,
He stood up for The Man and he'd give him much more
Our love for him now, aint hard to explain,
The hero of Janesville, the man they call Ayn!

Now here is what separates producers
From moochers like you and I
The man they call Ayn
He turned 'round his train
And let all his lies hit sky
He dropped lies onto conventions
He dropped lies into tv sets
And the man they call Ayn
He just rode that damned train
'Til he became a GOP star

He robbed for the rich and he stole from the poor,
He stood up for The Man and he'd give him much more
Our love for him now, aint hard to explain,
The hero of Janesville, the man they call Ayn!

  1. You rock. Even if you someday write something that pisses me off irreparably, I will remember this day and keep you in my blogroll.

Yeah, yeah, second prize is a month in Jaynesville. What of it?

  2. Or course Romney picked the biggest liar he could find. You were expecting maybe bunnies? Scary bunnies?

Anyhow, I've been pondering what life will look like if these clowns do sieze power - http://downpuppy.blogspot.com/2012/08/transit-investing-in-era-of-family.html

  3. Eastwood was funny. By accident.

    Very nice, Susan.

  4. Amazon Prime has been treating me recently to a complete replay of the Firefly season.

Well done! I thought of that song every time is saw the word, Janesville; so glad you ran with it.

My modest rewrite of the 1964 Chad Mitchell Tune, Barry's Boys, is at DKos: Romney's Boys.

  6. It's amazing that you needed to make so few changes.

I have the Firefly DVDs but it's easier to watch it on Netflix. It's a shame there was only one season and a movie.

  7. This is even funnier given the actual personal politics of the actor who plays Jayne Cobb. And he's a terrific actor; you just don't want to go out to dinner with him and bring up the election.

  8. Whedon is a libertarian too, no?

  9. Whedon's a self-proclaimed liberal but he has a libertarian streak, as evidenced by Serenity. I try not to read too much into Firefly's politics, because it seems like more of a "Man it would be cool if" to make the Confederacy heroes without actually thinking of what that means subtextually.

Of course, exploring the aftermath of Serenity instead of endless prequel comics would be fascinating, but that would require more effort than Whedon, I think, is willing to give unless there's a big enough payday.
