McArdle's joy at the opening of two hot bars near her home reminded me of her sorrow when the cool gastropub in her neighborhood went belly-up simply because the restaurant manager had forged the liquor license and the Alcohol Beverage Regulation Administration was not amused.
I am such a shallow person that my enthusiasm about a new bar is contingent upon the nature of drinks it offers.
