Anti-Union Hack is Anti-Union

Shorter Megan McArdle: It was unions that killed the GM beast.

McArdle gives a couple of other reasons why GM has problems, mainly inertia in its leaders, but barely mentions greed or the bad economy.

Also, "claque" does not mean what she thinks it means. Someone should tell McArdle that nobody is impressed by a big vocabulary when the user doesn't know what the words mean.

Also, massively bad banking decisions since a huge amount of their modern business isn't making cars but loaning money for people to buy cars.

This one phone call and 10 minutes of writing piece of crap appears to be a magazine piece, not a blog article.

Their last 2 subscribers must be delighted.

Yes, exactly!

I skipped that part because I was in a hurry to work on the (more amusing) kitchen post.

Downpuppy, yes. But don't forget--she read a book too!

Does anyone remember the time she recommended putting a Kindle in a ziploc bag so you could read while in the bathtub?

Ah memories.

perhaps she is actually enacting a SUPREMELY subtle performance art piece, like Victoria Jackson?

McArdle has a loyal, and rabid, "claque" of commenters. Maybe she was fantasizing about them as Ford Security Guards? Who knows? But GM as the poster child of a Union taking down a Corp. is so tiresome and WRONG. Since when does reality matter, unless it's Kitchen renovation?

Don't forget our glorious adventure in Iraq that would pay for itself.

It was great for people who make money when gasoline hits 4.65 a gallon*, but less so for everyone else.

* Price I actually paid on Long Island back then.

Unions are exactly why Toyota is near bankrupt. Oh wait.

claque: hired fans!

Funny, came across the word in a novel I was reading last night. A playwright hired a "claque" of people to applaud his play.

Yes its all the fault of UNIONS that the US is an empire in decline...starting, apparently in the late 40's and 1950's when unions were very strong. And now unions are weak and despised and even illegal in some places. Oh- wait. Never mind.

funny, McArdle herself is part of a claque of folks who fluff the elite for a living over at the Atlantic.
