It was a choice. The rich have relentlessly acted to get richer. They chose to hurt others to do so. And some people kiss their ass in the hopes of picking up the coins they toss to their sycophants. The sycophants made a choice too. For some that choice was hard. For others it was just second nature.

That is a great link.

I'll add that since Reagan came into office, the Democratic response (Bill Clinton, Barack Obama) has been corporatism lite.

Roy Edroso talks about appreciating the dime's worth of difference when covering the raging idiots of the GOP.

But the real point for our plutocrats is that control of both parties means they get at least 90 cents every election, no matter what.

I think everyone knows this deep down. They have to, it's not hidden. But we are afraid. Some day we'll be desperate and our need will overwhelm our fears but it's hard to believe that that's the only way thing will change.

Evidently McArdle has given up pretending to be an economics blogger and is now just sharing her brilliant wit and insights with the world. It is extremely strange to see her address The Daily Show as journalism. It's like she thinks journalism is just a partisan performance, where people just make up shit and try to embarrass their ideological enemies and try to be witty and hip.

Oh wait.
