Whatever You're For, I'm Against It

Megan McArdle mistrusts doctors.

Megan McArdle mistrusts film critics.

Megan McArdle mistrusts teachers, unions, and schools.

Megan McArdle mistrusts corporations with patents.

Megan McArdle mistrusts Democratic economic ideas.

Megan McArdle mistrusts credit card companies. (Or maybe the credit card critics--she isn't too clear.)

Megan McArdle trusts the National Association of Realtors.

I understand you can make a buck by criticizing everything the opposite political party is trying to do, but why stop with the NAR?

It is always better to trust an Astroturf organization that was telling us what a great buy houses were in 2006 more than people who actually create things or depend on the free market for their survival.

McMegan is anti-capitalist, isn't she?

Bonus Megan points should be given on the "patents" post. After the first sentence, the entire rest of the post is incoherent ramblings about copyrights. This was pointed out in the very first comment, but the McChicken had flown the coop.

Hey...occasionally Megan, as John McLaughlin puts it, lurches uncontrollably into the truth. If Megan read the same New Yorker article I did last week about for-profit medicine in McAllen, Texas, she'd be right not to trust doctors. Re 3D movies...they've been "The Future Of Cinema"(tm) since 1958. The really hilarious Meganism comes in her discussion of WWII deficits: "First of all, everyone expected they would be paid off after the war ended by keeping tax revenue high and spending low. This is, in fact, what happened." Now, it's a given that, as a libertarian, she's all for low spending...at least when Democrats are in power, but isn't this the same Meggie who urged the productive class to "Go Galt" because Obama raised the top marginal rate by 4%? Man,if anyone ever NEEDED her knickers twisted... like REALLY tight...it's megan

Once she mistrusts a few more categories will she go for the obvious and mistrust The Free Market?

Never, RB. Some things are sacred, like money.
