Okay, markets, now STOP WITH THE CREEPY PARALLELS TO THE GREAT DEPRESSION. You're really harshing my mellow.

She should have thought of that when she was saying that banks have learned to manage risk and financial innovation was a good thing. Present conditions are a consequence of past decisions. Bad decisions based on elite worship and vicarious greed.

An actual economics writer could explore the various ways that the Great Recession is similar to the Great Depression, and how it is different. That would be information that is both interesting and useful.
Or she could yammer on about her upcoming wedding, and how the poor are keeping her from the house of her dreams.
I think the important thing, Malaclypse, is to explore how Megan feels about both events.

NOW Megan suspects that we're in another Great Depression? And gee, it's harshing her mellow? 60's stoner and Creature-Feature slang to describe it.
I'm not certain that MM has ever really been mellow in her entire life. She certainly doesn't come across like that. Maybe she could be turned into a llama.... (Disney reference, for all non-parents out there.)
Maybe she realizes that if there is another Great Depression her wingnut welfare, and her husband's wingnut welfare will disappear, and she'll have to beg for Fed Government welfare. And her new house will be repossessed.
She might have to get a real job at McDonalds, or hand out food samples at Sam's Club.
Zeppo, maybe it's second hand smoke.
Aimai, quite right. Let's keep our eye on the ball.
Malaclypse, we can never have too much wedding blogging.
KWillow, she's slow but steady. No doubt in a decade or two she'll realize that CDOs weren't such a hot idea.
I have a decent amount in savings; could Meg explain to me why I am earning almost NO interest, while BofA loans my money out for quite a bit, especially if you count their 19% interest on credit cards.
