Charming

It's not "We are the 1%" but it's close.

McArdle might want to rethink that whole twitter thing. It's much harder to maintain a facade of civility when speaking extemporaneously.

And on the other hand, Michelle Malkin: 'Occupy Wall Street' 99% White

(Note the photo helpfully supplied by FAUX disputes the headline. Note firther the lack of diversity of the teabagger protests that were gleefully promoted by FAUX.)

Frankly, our plutocrat-owned pundits tried to ignore OWS.

That didn't work, but they still have no cogent response. OWS is right, and people know it.

Memorandum has this article from Fox news about an attack on their reporters. It's hard to believe but the commenters show some allegiance with the protesters, who they now see as the victims of the government.

It would be a big mistake for the elite to keep reminding people that the rich hate us. "We are the 1%" pushes a hell of a lot of people out of the tribe and those people have been trained to hold grudges and strike back.

Virtually every writer at the Atlantic came from the upper middle class. What are the odds?

I really can't tell how much of this is her being deliberately stupid v. just plain stupid. Regardless, her heart is made of whatever stone she chooses for her countertops.

The reaction of the elite to this rally reminds me of Monseigneur tossing a coin out the window of his carriage to the family of the child he just ran over in Tale of Two Cities. Or maybe O'Brien chiding Smith for believing the tripe that the Party is trying to build a better future for the Proles.

It's astonishing. The old mantra of "It's better for you that I'm rich" at least had a veneer of democracy in it. This is just smashing poor (actually, everybody not filthy rich) in the face and laughing about it.

No surprise to find Megan on the side of the face mashers.

Oh God. Now she's pretending to empathize with the protesters.

"I was at the ACT-UP die-ins, the pro-choice marches, the "Sleep Out for the Homeless" events and the "Take Back the Night" vigils. It's fun, especially when you can see yourself on television."

Everybody hates a tourist
Especially one who thinks it's all such a laugh
And the chip stains and grease
Will come out in the bath

How does the "America is Number One!" mantra fit in with the "too much self-esteem" theory?
