He Meant To Do That

Oops. He's one of the right's most brilliant intellectuals, you know.

If you want to keep needling Jonah on twitter something he hasn't gotten flak for as far as I can tell is that around minute 11 of his second interview with Piers Morgan he claims that there haven't been any innocent people executed by capital punishment in the US.

To be fair, this data is so hard to come by that Wikipedia's page on the matter is only 1,500 words long.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrongful_execution

Likewise the Wik only lists 140 death row inmates who were exonerated or pardoned after 1970.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_exonerated_death_row_inmates#United_States

The stupidest thing about it is that he wants to claim that all them people placed on death row and exonerated doesn't inform whether or not innocent people have been executed. Like "I know that we find about one person every three months who's on death row to exonerate or pardon, but the fact that we do so means the system works! and we find everybody who shouldn't be there and let them go and never end up killing them."

Children don't think that way. Evil children like Damien from The Omen don't even think that way.

Obviously the only reason he hasn't gotten more flak for this is because no one saw it. Watching the twenty minutes of cumulative Piers Morgan interview that preceded it should be an alternative punishment to death row.

That time cover is weird enough that you'd think NRO would have gone to town on it.
Politico did

"Grumet, who practices what is known as attachment parenting and herself was breast-fed until she was six, added that she doesn’t feel like being with her child constantly — including having him sleep in her bed — takes away from her personal life."

You must understand that the arranged marriage wife of Lucianne Goldberg's Obese Bundle of Less Than Joy, along with receiving a bi-annual hike in the payments from Mommy-In-Law Less-Than-Dearest to her offshore tolerance account, joins Howie Kurtz's Missus in teaching Frigid I and Frigid II classes four nights a week in the basement bomb shelter at AIPAC Headquarters in D.C.

You really don't believe that the Common Law Missus with the Offshore Compensation Package actually sleeps in the same bed with Lucianne Goldberg's Obese Bundle of Less Than Joy, do you?

Bless their pointed little heads, libertarians think that supporting pornography makes them cool.

Goldberg has been very careless of late-it's almost like being around Breitbart's recklessness made him more reckless as well. He sees the tweet, doesn't bother to let it penetrate his brain (an admittedly difficult task) and then fires off a retort. A creepy, embarrassing retort.

Ewwww. His defense is that he didn't see the word "child," despite it being in the original tweet and retweeting it? And presumably he hadn't seen the cover?

On the one hand, this is eminently plausible; it would be perfectly in line with Goldberg being too lazy to research anything and not knowing what the hell he is talking about.

On the other hand, this is a classic Goldberg/Coulter/rightwing move – they want credit for being "provocative" or biting, but simultaneously want to disown all accountability. They issue direct insults and lies and then claim their critics can't understand their nuance. They will simultaneously assert and disown their own theses. That sums up Coulter's Treason and Goldberg's Liberal Fascism, and really Goldberg's entire shtick. Alex Pareene's recent article summed it up nicely. Goldberg likes to pretend he could too make a very intelligent argument if only he had time. He's a right-wing hack on offense ('liberals are bad'), and ranges from a centrist hack to right-wing hack on defense ('no one can really say for sure' and 'both sides are to blame' to 'liberal bias'). The tyranny of clichés is nothing but schoolyard taunts and straw men. This really shouldn't be surprising, but I'll admit that when I heard Jonah making his arguments on NPR and Piers Morgan I was taken aback by how blatantly bad they were.

As the Rev. Dr. Spooner might have put it, Jonah Goldberg is one of the Right's foremost shining wits.

Hi,
I'd like to inquire about doing a sponsored blog post - about 150-300 words that talks a little bit about DUI law and links back to our site http://www.michaelpackardlaw.com. We provide DUI Attorney Services and we're looking for more exposure on http://agonyin8fits.blogspot.com/.

Here's a list of some blog post titles we've done in the past:
- What Happens When You Get A DWI in Texas
- How a DUI Attorney Can Save Your Life
- Reasons Why You Need A Immigration Attorney
Our budget is around $15 for the post. Is this something you'd be open to?

Also we might be interested in a small banner ad if the price is right. Our budget is $40/year - something like this:
http://postimage.org/image/5hw01v1xv/

Let me know if you'd be open to either or both of these.

Also if you have some other sites just send them over and we might be interested in doing a sponsored post on there as well!

Regards,

Vanessa

Who wrote that Packard Law post? Enquiring minds want to know (and please don't remove it, it's classic).

Goldberg seems to be taking Justice Stewart's "I know it [pornography] when I see it," position.

And since Jonah didn't see any (let alone see "child" in the tweet) well ...

Grumet, who practices what is known as attachment parenting

Complete OT, but the way the 'attachment parenting' crowd have appropriated terms from Attachment Theory really pisses me off.

Vis-a-vis capital punishment and the ideal ratio of incorrect acquittals to wrongful executions, I was intrigued to learn that quoting a Founding Father's views on the subject* is apparently a cliche. When liberals do it.
