Lets give a hand to Tom Levenson of The Inverse Square Blog! Mr. Levenson, this cookie's for you!
In the most appropriately named post Megan McArdle Is Always Wrong...Health Insurance Reform/Great Depression edition, Mr. Levenson explains how McArdle skipped merrily past finding reputable sources, doing research, asking questions, and maintaining even a dredge of consistency and common sense while writing about health care.
Thanks again for working hard so we don't have to!

Heartfelt opinions are the new research....
Lovely cookies, but I don't think the links work...
It worked! I'm back!
Great piece by Tom. A would-be health insurance company goes out of business "because of regulation," and we're supposed to find that troubling?
Re his and a commenter's point about the glibertarian allergy to reality, read (if you dare) Charles Murray's review of the new Ayn Rand bios.

Oh, don't bother. Here is how he ends it, after noting--as he must, since the books are replete with it--Rand's relentless dishonesty in and regarding her personal life:
Better than any other American novelist, she captured the magic of what life in America is supposed to be. The utopia of her novels is not a utopia of greed. It is not a utopia of Nietzschean supermen. It is a utopia of human beings living together in Jeffersonian freedom.
See? "The magic of what life in America is supposed to be."
That's what they want: a life of fantasy the main attribute of which is, that it pretends to be more real than reality. And that's what McArdle is dedicated to helping them maintain.
It just occurred to me--Rand had the same problem as every other libertarian I've seen--too much ego, not enough talent.
That was me, Susan.
