Atlas Shrugged: The Mocking

Pigpile!

If you ever wanted to see a group of raving lunatics swarm over Megan McArdle with blood in their eyes and venom in their keyboards, skip on over to What Did Ron Paul Know, and When Did He Know It?  It's rather refreshing to see libertarians use their slash and burn techniques each other instead of liberals.

Added: Combine the McArdle commentariat--selfish, smug, racist and elitist--with the Ron Paul commentariat--conspiracy-minded, empty-headed, racist and unable to work a caps lock--and what do you get?

I'm far from Ron Pauls biggest fan, but are you saying that race-bating should disqualify one from office?

mike1 hour agoin reply to Ken Magalnik
No, she's saying editing a racist newsletter should disqualify you.

and that it's 'ok' to vote for a guy that hates white people, since hating on white people isn't racism in Megan's and Obama's world

That is awesome.

Articles like this are why I have largely abandoned the mainstream press. I bet there are many people out there going through the same process. I don't listen to NPR anymore, don't watch PBS or cable news, cancelled my subscriptions to the Washington Post, Economist, and the Atlantic, seldom click on HuffPost. Instead I follow the press in India, Russia, Latin America, China which allows me to compare the coverage and see for myself that Canadians and Americans are kept on a diet of filtered, pro-Israel propaganda. A prominent part of that propaganda is to discredit Ron Paul, the only candidate not beholden to the Israel lobby.

OMG.

Like two boars wrestling blindfolded in a burlap sack, the Paulites v. the Randians.

Make that a wet burlap sack.

Holy shit! where's the astonished emoticon face when you need it. I think they started and the floor and sank through the sub-basement to the earth's (racist) core with lightening speed. If we could harness that power we'd be the light of the world for the next thousand years.

It's so much fun when McArdle attacks Ron Paul.

Ha! and this is great. From twitter:

asymmetricinfoMegan McArdle
Dear Ron Paul supporters: I am not DEAF or BLIND, so you do not NEED to use ALL CAPS in order to ENSURE that I can APPREHEND YOUR COMMENT!!!

cereallybroAsh
@asymmetricinfo It's COMPREHEND, darling. Deaf or blind u maybe not. But u sure are an idiot! Stop using words that are too big for you!

asymmetricinfoMegan McArdle
@cereallybro Suggest you consult a dictionary before you start with the nastygrams.

cereallybroAsh
@asymmetricinfo As it happens, I have. Effective 'authors' need not have to advise their readers to consult one though. Nasty begets nasty.

asymmetricinfoMegan McArdle
@cereallybro If you consulted a dictionary, why did you incorrectly tell me that I had misused apprehend? I am confused.

cereallybroAsh
@asymmetricinfo Because the 'arrest' meaning will always take precedence above all else. There are words that are far more accessible.

McArdle's vocabulary is not nearly as good as it should be. (And Nancy French does not choose her words with care at all--she pays no attention to the impact of her words.) I am very envious that mediocre or bad writers can make a living by writing just because they are serving the needs of the rich. I want to sell out and get rich too but nobody wants a liberal atheist anti-authoritarian sell-out.

Bu-bu-bu ... McM is sorta right?! Oh, now I apprehend it, she's trolling her own blog. My fave comment was the one that read, in ints entirety, "SQUIRREL"

Megan is correct in this instance. (Exceedingly rare, I know.)

"Examples of APPREHEND

Within hours, police had apprehended the thief.

subtle differences that are difficult to apprehend"

She obviously meant the second meaning of apprehend.

aimai said...

Yes, of course she's right about apprehend. But you have to love the "rule" her interlocutor makes up that the "first meaning" takes precedence over the others. You could have so much fun with that.

I've seen her do that a few times too many to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Because I'm catty.

I am going to use that ALL WEEK. EVERYWHERE.
