Requiem

Megan McArdle mourns the death of Billy Mays, twice. It's not very surprising that her patron saint would peddle useless crap on tv to people who measure their worth by their purchasing power.

Her commentors are cool with going out and killing all the pirates, too. Lovely folks.

They're probably just disappointed that they can't buy permission to murder. It's manipulation of the markplace!

I'm old enough to remember a televised speech Reagan gave early in his first term in which he praised the creativity and ingenuity of the American people, and as proof, held up a plastic handle that clipped on to a beer can to turn it into a stein. Bobby Jindal was right: Americans CAN do anything!
